One of the great perks of my job is the chance to travel all over the country (and the world) to attend conferences and visit TechSmith customers. This privilege comes at a steep price though, as all of this travel leaves my office defenseless against the army of TechSmith office pranksters (My USB rocket launcher needs to start earning its keep). The image on the left is an example of what a few days out of the office can bring - all of my earthly possessions piled high in a shrink wrapped office chair.
In spite of the potential repercussions, I'll be heading back out on the road soon to attend a few conferences. Please stop by and say hello so I'll have a reason to believe that it was all worth it (as I spend hours getting my office back in shape). Here is a list of the conferences where you'll find me over the next few months. If you're in the area (but not attending the conference) please drop me a line and we can try to connect for coffee, dinner, beer, etc.
| Building Learning Communities | Boston, MA | July 27-30 |
| Campus Technology | Boston, MA | July 27-30 |
| Distance Learning | Madison, WI | August 4-6 |
| Conference on Information Technology | Detroit, MI | Oct 11-14 |
| Educause | Nov 3-6 | Denver, CO |
I think this list is a little short, so please let me know what other educational technology conferences you think TechSmith should be exhibiting at (this year or next). We'll be adding more events to the list and your input is a very important factor in choosing what conferences we attend. Please post your suggestions in the comments below! You can also follow me on the road (and in the office) on twitter - @davemccollom
If you have any suggestions for non-education conferences and visits, you can leave a comment on The Visual Lounge Blog.
Dave,
What wonderful timing. I am a Director for the Florida Association of Computer User Groups (FACUG). Tech Smith has been a supporter of ours for years. This year, we have a very unique opportunity for our members and vendors. We are sponsoring our 15th Annual Computer & Technology Conference on a cruise ship. With 7 months to go, we already have 100 of the 300 cabins we reserved with deposits. Many of these people have never before attended a computer or technology conference. This would be an outstanding opportunity for Tech Smith to reach out and educate a new audience. Most of the User Groups in Florida are deeply involved in various educational programs.
The ship is the Norwegian Sky. It sails from Miami, Fl on February 26, - March 1 1020. If you think you might be interested, I will send you more specific vendor information. We have prepared some extremely attractively priced vendor packages which include the entire cost of a cabin for 2, including gratuities. I can be reached at stusil@comcast.net.
I would like to invite Techsmith to be involved in this years VITTA Conference to be held at Flemington Race Course from 23 – 25 November 2009.
The Victorian Information Technology Teachers Association (VITTA) is a not-for-profit professional association providing support to schools and teachers in the area of information and communication technologies from K – 12 schools. This year we are expecting 900 attendees to the conference along with an exhibition area consisting of 50 stands of various sizes.
I am a Techsmith evangelist (amatuer) and I will be exhibiting my PowerPoint solutions at this event in Melbourne Australia at $1,100. I would be pleased to co-host Techsmith and promote TECHSMITH to ver 900 Australian IT teachers. Would you be willing to provide give-aways and Trial CD's of your products and contribute to the stand, I would also put TECHSMITH signage up. Cheers Andre
Hey, Dave. You might want to consider SLOAN-C, as well. Bummed I'm not going to Distance Learning this year to stop by! The CIC Tech Forum is at MSU this year, too.
Join us at the National Art Education Conference - http://www.arteducators.org/olc/pub/NAEA/news/news_page_18.html
I can think of LOTS of great TechSmith uses in art classrooms!
